Nominated for: BEST Irish Pub
It was 23 years ago when The Harp Inn opened their doors in Costa Mesa. The owner, John Lyons, has made sure that The Harp Inn is everything that a classic Irish pub should be, which has contributed to its success throughout the years. Here you will find a friendly pub vibe, full bar with 10 beers on tap, and wonderful pub food, which can be enjoyed inside or outside on the covered & heated patio.
I really enjoy going to The Harp Inn. My first introduction to this wonderful Irish pub was not at one of their amazing happy hours, or even watching one of the popular local bands, but instead meeting a couple of friends for breakfast. As I settled into my chair and perused their menu, my eyes fell on the Irish Breakfast...Irish bacon, bangers, eggs, potatoes, black & white pudding, and toast. With a huge endorsement from one of my friends who loves this dish, I ordered it, and let me tell you that there is a reason why this is offered not just for breakfast, but all day. I enjoyed this hearty dish with a Magners Cider and let me say that this meal was absolutely excellent on all levels...tasty, filling, and satisfying.
Another one of their bestselling dishes is the Fish and Chips. I added a little malt vinegar to my two huge cod fillets and dove right in. The fish was tender, flaky, and fried to perfection. The chips were hot and crisp, and of course the portion size was huge. This meal was an absolute standout paired with my perfectly poured Guinness.
The Harp Inn's happy hour is from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday through Thursday. This amazing happy hour boasts well drinks, pints, wine, and shots for only $4.00, and appetizers for half price.
If you are in the mood for some entertainment, you don't need to look far. The Harp Inn attracts some of the most popular local bands to play on the weekends. Sports fans can enjoy routing for their favorite soccer or rugby team over a pint, as The Harp Inn opens early to televise these live games.
So the next time you are in Orange County, make sure to stop at this wonderful Irish pub. It is an experience not to be missed.
