There are still a few clues that McClain's Coffee House was somebody's residence, like the bathtub in the cafe's bathroom. You can't jump in for a dip, but it's still there, giving the place a certain coziness. McClain's hardwood floors and angular, red velvet furniture give it an earthy West Hollywood feel. The large outside patio also adds an interesting Cali-Mediterranean feeling. The 10 tables on the patio provides a perfect place to play chess or dominoes, like at a cafe in Italy. But its location next to a busy street filled with Jeeps and SUV's gives it away as tres California. Weekend nights McClain's becomes a stage for unsigned bands, usually alternative rock. I la la la love McClains! This place is great for studying or a place to grap a late snack and chit chat the night away. I love the owner and her sarcasm! This place is always decorated with wonderful art and great people.
